simple transitions

29.2.16

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. With the weather being so finicky lately, it's hard to dress for the transitioning temperatures. I've spent a lot of time in this chunky knit turtleneck over this winter and I'm not quite ready to let it go just yet. So I thought pairing it with some springy pieces would be nice. On that note, I'm so excited for spring! Open-toe shoes, going out sans parka - so much joy ahead!

Forever 21 jacket and dress / Aldo bag / Steve Madden shoes

Happy Monday! I was doing a little closet re-organizing this weekend I found this dress which I absolutely love (last worn here). We had some decently warm weather over the weekend, so I figured why not! Is it just me or is the black fur and the black hair throwing out some Big Bird vibes? Chic Big Bird maybe? I kind of like it! Also, you may notice that my blog has had a little face-lift! I'm loving the new layout. Let me know what you think!

gold + dainty

17.2.16

When it comes to jewelery, I'm 100% all about the gold. How cute are these little beauties from 8th & Main? Simple, minimalistic and just enough to keep it chic. Sorry for the blurry pics, they're from my iPhone.

blanket or scarf

16.2.16

Old Navy jacket  and jeans / Laura Ashley blanket / Topshop bag / Aldo boots

Is it a blanket or a scarf? Shamefully, I have to admit that I totally grabbed a blanket and wore  it as a scarf and walked out of the house. To my defense, I'm usually wrapped up in this sweater  around the house all the time,  so this wasn't that much of a stretch. The colours were working, and it's been freezing cold in Toronto. So done and done! How were your Valentine's Day weekends? I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day because I found it's become just too commercialized, but I do hope you had a good day if you celebrate, and a fun Sunday if you didn't.

boyfriend love

11.2.16

Forever 21 coat / H&M tee / Primark jeans / Call It Spring shoes

I've said before and I'll say it again. I love a good pair of boyfriend jeans, especially when paired with heels. These jeans, being particularly ripped, can't be worn on just any given winter day, I have to plan that out or else my legs will 100% freeze off. Still dreaming of spring...

juice cleanse - belmonte raw

10.2.16

About a month ago, I decided to do a juice cleanse for three days. My sister-in-law was doing it with her office, so my husband and I decided to give it a go. After the holidays, after all that eating and indulging, I just felt like it was a perfect time to reboot the body. Belmonte Raw is a local plant based raw food and juices shop that makes and delivers to you daily.  They have six cleanses to choose from; three which are strictly juices, and three that combine juices and raw, vegan food. I opted for the intermediate one, the Deeper. This cleanse consists of 6 juices and a liver cleansing tea. It claims to rest your digestive system, boost energy and promotes cellular repair. You can look up all the juices here, but they full of healthy, nutritious ingredients like beets, carrots, ginger, spinach, cucumber, cashew milk, and even a shot of aloe! So here are my thoughts on the whole process.

My pros: I think doing a juice cleanse for three days is totally manageable. They provide you with a schedule that shows you just about when to have each drink. Five of the six drinks are 500ml, so trust me, you really don't feel hungry. Your day also starts off with 1L of lemon water right when you wake up. So when you add it all up, there's a whole lot of liquid. I always felt full. To be honest, I even had to stretch the schedule a bit because I wasn't hungry at times. By the end of the first day, I had a lot of energy. I'm not sure if it was from the juices or if it was just because my mind knew I was doing good for my body. Still, for the entire three days, I was feeling really good.

My cons: the first has to be the price. This cleanse runs you about $75.00 per day, but through a group discount, we did for $55.00. Yeah... its not cheap. But you could definitely do it yourself at home if you have a juicer. I'm definitely thinking of doing that if I do it again. Even though you don't actually feel 'hungry', it's really hard not to reach for food if you're a snacker. I'm an evening snacker. I know, I know, it's the worst, but I am what I am. And that was the hardest part of this. When you're chilling out on the couch at the end of the day, and you're craving gummy bears out of pure, joyous greed and gluttony, it's hard to say no. Really, really hard. And lastly, I'm sure you guessed it, there was an outrageous number of trips to the little girls room! So be prepared for that.

Would I do it again?  I would! Aside from feeding your body insane amounts of nutrients, I really did learn a lot about my eating habits in these short three days. I love eating. Don't get me wrong, I eat pretty well enough that I don't usually feel guilty about my 'cheat meals'. But I'm one of those people who preps dinner in my head while I'm eating lunch. So I really noticed just how much I think about food. Overall, this was a pretty cool experience and I would recommend it. I don't see myself doing it for more than three days, however, but it's definitely something worth trying.

i heart stan

8.2.16

Forever 21 jacket / H&M shirt / Garage jeans / Adidas sneakers via Urban Outfitters

I've been obsessing over Stan Smiths for a couple of months now. I recently declared myself an Adidas girl after purchasing a few workout items from the brand. But my oh my were these bad boys tough to get my hands on. After searching high and low, Urban Outfitters saved my life. My new babies finally came in the mail last week. Since they're more of a spring/summer show,  I can't exactly wear them as much as I'd like right now, And even though it's a 'warm winter' it's still freaken winter. So for now, See you this spring, Stan.
