play time

Old Navy pea coat / Mendocino shirt / H&M skirt and tights / Aldo bag and earrings / Quest West shop shoes

As promised yesterday, outfit post on Sunday afternoon's play. This shirt has been my latest obsession. I love the camel colour (especially at this time of year), but even more, I love the leather detail around the collar and the zipper in the back. It's a perfect shirt to throw on with jeans and be completely casual or to dress up a bit.

the weekenders

Old Navy coat / Mendocino shirt / Forever 21 jeans / H&M bag / Primak flats

Happy Monday! This past weekend was so busy. Friday night girls night in, Saturday birthday celebrations with my boyfriend's family, and Sunday afternoon we went to see a friend in a play. And of course, in between all of that, there were errands. The good news (for me) is that I don't have to go to work this morning. I usually hate Mondays after weekends like this - always wish I had that one extra day to recover. So I say again, happy Monday and thank goodness for vacation days. These are a few shots from all the running around.

Christmas raindeer in the mall.

Whitty name for a stationary store.
Beautiful fall tree colours.
Love of my life.
What I wore to the play. Outfit post on this later this week.

military chic

H&M blouse / Mendocino shorts / Forever 21 necklace and bangles / Aldo bag / Shoes from a shop in Quebec

The latest Bloggers Do It Better Challenge is Military Chic. I love military green and I'm currently on the hunt for a perfect jacket that colour. For this challenge, I paired the olive blouse with floral printed shorts and a gold statement necklace to feminize it. I was hesitant about mixing olive and mauve, but I quite like the end product.

playing in dad's closet

Vintage sweater that belonged to my dad / Bik Bok shirt / Old Navy Pants / Primark bag / Shoes from Queen West shop.

I found this chunky knit sweater, my dad's old sweater, in a box I keep of my parents' clothes for when they come visit. He had this sweater since I was a baby (23 years ago!). I remember being a teenager and absolutely detesting this sweater. My mom, my sister and I wanted him to burn it. Fast-forward 8 years and I love it. Big oversized sweaters just seem to be doing the trick for me these days. I especially love the details on this one, like the suede shoulders and pockets and the gold detailing on the buttons. Have you ever found your parents' old things to be just perfect for you today?

oh yeah. that's pink.

H&M top and skirt / Gifted tights / Primark shoes / Aldo bag / Forever 21 necklace

This month's EBEW Challenge is coloured tights. I've had these ones for over a year now and I never wear them! What better time than now, right? I'm not sure if I'll be adding these to my wardrobe staples, but it definitely makes me want coloured tights in a mustard or pumpkin colour for the fall.

chevron stripes

Random jean jacket / H&M top & dress worn as a skirt / Primark shoes / Jessica Simpson clutch

I love the simple, clean pattern of a black and white chevron stripe. After wearing it this week I realized that I don't wear this top nearly enough (let's hope I don't over do it now!). And how about that post-Halloween spirit? Okay, not so much, but hey, when else in the year can you get away with black and orange... Other than Halloween? November, I'll say.
