pastel + black

31.3.16

'Tis the season of pastels! And I couldn't be happier. The light, crisp colour palettes are my favourite. Black also has a special place in my heart, which is more of a recent thing. I love pastels against lighter tones, but I especially love when they're popping off black. So here is a marriage of the two. I don't know if you can tell from the photos, but the jacket is actually a pale, pale lavender. That's the great thing about black; I could have worn a neutral jacket, in grey, brown or tan. I could have opted for a pale blue, pale pink or pale yellow. Or even a bright red or bright orange and all of those would work. That's why  black is everything.

easter sunday

Happy Monday and Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates! This is what I wore to diner last night at my in-laws. I figured I'd go for a loose fitting top since we'd probably be eating an aggressive amount of food and treats. And right I was! This is the morning after and I’m still full. I wouldn’t say this is completely comfort over style, but comfort definitely won!

quality time

Happy Saturday! I haven't been on the blog lately because my mom is in town and we've just been busy doing mother daughter stuff. My parents live in Haiti. After I was done university ,they moved back so my dad could pursue his missionary work in his home country. So I only see my parents a few times a year. So off I go to spend quality time with my mom, so here are some photos from a couple weeks ago I hadn't gotten around to posting yet. I hope you're all having a great weekend!

a little faux fur

I've had this faux fur vest for about 4 years now and I just realized that I haven't worn it for about a year and a half. I know it's more of a fall piece, but I just felt showing it some love. We had quite a bit of snow last week, followed by some cold temperatures, but I think that was the last of it. I'm excited for light layering, bare legs and open toe shoes! Oh how I love my ankle strap sandals!

and another one

Happy Friday! Some outfits you can just rely on, and this has easily become one of them for me. uh an effortless outfit. It works with heels, boots, or sneakers (like Converse and Stan Smiths). On another note, how cute are these shoes! If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen them. But I have to take a moment to gush a little. I found these beauties at Zara a couple of weeks ago. One pair. My size. On sale. Need I say more? Some unions are jut meant to be!

back to blue

This jacket is one of my favourite items that I own. I got it from this amazing (and super inexpensive) store while on a visit in England a couple years ago. I find it so chic and sophisticated. For me, those two words are usually synonymous with a black, white, grey or beige neutral, so this is a nice change for me. When a great piece is structured and fits well, it being in an different and refreshing colour is usually a bonus. So a great pink, red, mustard yellow, or even pale blue coat is always a do!
